The Geek Girl Brunch – NYC Chapter had their DC Comics themed brunch this past Saturday and HOLY TONS OF GEEK GIRLS BATMAN! We had such an amazing time with you all! Thank you for coming! This was GGB NYC’s biggest brunch to date with more than 60 attendees! We are so grateful and proud that GGB is helping making IRL connections for so many Geek Girls! Many thanks to everyone who made this DC Comics themed brunch possible. A custom illustration from Cameron Stewart (squeee!) kicked us off; and we had an awesome Sponsor and a great venue for brunch! Absolutely one of the best brunches yet! We can’t wait to see what else awaits us in 2015! Read on after the cut for deets on our brunch Sponsor – Forbidden Planet (!!!!), the Venue – Playwright Irish Pub, the amazing Etsy sellers who gifted the brunchettes with stylish and fun accessories, and some surprise swag from Warner Bros!
Despite the rainy, cold weather, Geek Girl Brunch DC‘s launch brunch was a hit! The location, Teasim, provided a nice warm environment and a great space for geeky ladies to connect and laugh their afternoon away over great food and drinks. This weekend marks the launch of GeekGirlBrunch’s first expansion chapter! The honor goes to our Washington, DC Chapter! The first GGB DC brunch theme is Candyland and the adorable, sweet toothed DC Officers have blown us away with their enthusiasm! They’ve picked a theme that’s kawaii, retro, and whimsical!
We here at GGB HQ just want to congratulate the DC Chapter on their first brunch! Here’s to many more!
Please welcome the DC Chapter Officers:
Ashlee, Imani, Sam, Tia, and Tsundere.
Inspired by the Batgirl team and their commitment to improving, GGB rolls out the #GGBDoBetter* Campaign
2014 is over and 2015 is shaping up to be a great year for Geek Girl Brunch. We’re launching chapters in cities all over the world and we could not be more excited! Giving ourselves the opportunity and excuse to make IRL friends with fellow passionate geeks was our genesis, after all! But we also want to make sure that Brunch is not just Brunch. GGB is about creating a community, providing a network and establishing a safe space for identifying Geek Girls to talk to each other. We can’t ignore the problems we have all been faced with over the past year, as individuals, as a community, as a city, as a nation, as citizens of Earth.
