The LA Officers

Megan – The Nerdy GirlieDSC_0074

Megan is the creator of The Nerdy Girlie blog.  Upon attending her first San Diego Comic Con in 2009 she knew what it finally meant to call herself “nerd.”  After four years of attending SDCC she created The Nerdy Girlie blog to help fellow nerds learn the ins and outs of the biggest con in the world!  From there it has grown to include Everyday Cosplay, Nerd Crafts and her passion for music.

Living in LA has opened up a new realm of music consumption for Megan.  She finally began guitar lessons after ten years of just thinking about it and has dove into her life long dream of concert photography with a position at High Voltage Magazine.

Additional Communities/Projects:

Life Mantra:  Live the life you love.

Geeky Loves:  All things British, Futurama, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, vampires, ballet, A Silent Film.

Tell us why you wanted to be an Officer for GGB.

I wanted to be a GGB officer because I am new to the Los Angles area. I had a great group of nerd girls in my previous city of San Diego that I wanted to make some new meaningful connections in my new city!

What is your favorite thing about the city you live in?

My favorite thing about LA is that there is always something to do or see. You can never be bored in this town!

Brunch Drink:  Coffee!

Emily  –  Wrong Button Blog

EmilyEmily is a future galactic war hero, Slytherin, She-Devil with a Sword, Magic Girl, and co-founder of Wrong Button Blog. A lifelong geek whose geeky passions have only grown more obsessive and more numerous over the years, Emily started the Wrong Button Blog in 2013 after meeting her partner in love and life, Peter. There shared love of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, video games, comic books and more helped make WBB a Geekie Award-winning blog — with a win for Geekiest Content on the Web and nominations for Best Of, Websites & Retail Stores and Top 10 Websites & Blogs.

When she’s not working on expanding the WBB brand, Emily is a cosplayer, crafter, cat mom, and freelance Lifestyle writer at Bustle.com, QuirkBooks.com, and others. She can be found at conventions and events in and around LA, usually dressed as Red Sonja.

Additional Projects/Communities:

Life Mantra:

Never let fear decide your fate

Geeky Loves: Harry Potter, video games, comic books, cosplay, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who, history, feminism, and so many more.

Tell us why you wanted to be an Officer for GGB.

I’ve lived the majority of my life with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and it’s always been hard to make friends. I have met so many amazing people who share my geeky loves through social media, conventions, and cosplay and I’m hoping to meet a few more to expand my geek girl village.

What is your favorite thing about the city you live in?

I grew up in a small town with no conventions, no comic books shops, etc. and living in LA gives me everything my little geeky heart desires. Including a ton of like minded people!

Brunch Drink: Mimosas (As in, more than one.)

Elle is the creator of the Your Friend Elle blog. The blog was originally intended to share tips and tricks she learned traveling in Europe. However it has expanded to include her love of tv, film, makeup, diy, and fashion. The name Your Friend Elle came from the idea that the blog should be an open letter to friends and readers alike, ending always with the saying Your Friend, Elle.
